Video Diary: Lester Waugh

Lester-Waugh

Lester took up rowing at Star Club in 2012 at the age of 57 as a complete beginner, in a bid to get back into sport.

With a number of wins in local regattas under his belt, he’s gone on to win a gold and two silver medals at the British National Masters in the 2x (Class E) and 4x (Novice and Class F) sculls.

International Regattas such as Henley Masters and the World Masters have figured on his race calendar, with participation in Bled 2017 resulting in two second places in the single and mixed double sculls, followed by a third and a fourth in the men’s quad and men’s doubles respectively.

A former weight training and fitness instructor, Lester’s a firm believer in regular and consistent off water sessions to build fitness and strength, particularly for Masters athletes , with a good balance of intensity and recovery.
